Winchester City Centre Partnership Ltd. Is responsible for overseeing the delivery of the BID strategy and action plan. An independent management board of up to 15 non-executive directors will control the company, BID activities and funds.
At latter end of 2012, Jeremy France stood down as Winchester BID Chairman. Ken MaCartney (vice-chair) was voted in to become the new chair, by the Board, to lead the BID.
Jeremy France comments:
"Congratulations to the City of Winchester for voting the BID in for another 5 years. It shows the understanding of the amount of work completed to make the city cleaner, greener, safer and better promoted.
I have really enjoyed my chairmanship for the BID over the past 5 years, but now feel this is an ideal opportunity to hand over the reins to my good friend Ken Macartney and the board trusts that he will lead them for an even more successful further 5 years . I will, of course, still remain as a board member while I have a business in Winchester as this puts me in a position to suggest new ways forward to make the city bigger and better."
Ken Macartney is excited about the new role and said:
"I am delighted that the BID has been successful in it's re-election for the second term and that having been involved since the start of the first term I am very encouraged with the progress seen. I am ready to work with the Board and the BID Team to evolve the impact the BID is having upon the local economy."
All directors give their time on a voluntary basis and devote on average 10 hours each month for the benefit of the BID and Winchester. Further working groups and a BID committee have formed to focus on specific aspects of the BID plans. These will include groups to look at crime and disorder, street scene, marketing and events, and Christmas. If you feel passionately about any of these issues we would welcome your involvement in these committees.
The Board meets monthly and the papers are available for scrutiny here.
