The 75 retail members act in concert, linked by a secure two way radio to the city’s CCTV network and city centre beat police. Fighting Crime through better partnership working.
Training retail managers and staff in the effective use of the radio link, preventing & detecting retail crime and tackling anti-social behaviour is essential in driving up effectiveness of the retail crime reduction partnership. Being tough on anti-social behavoiur is at the heart of SHOPWATCH.
Evidence from a number of sources point to the link between retail theft & deception and the conspicuous consumption of alcohol and other drugs on street within the city centre.
