Winchester's businesses have voted in favour to fund another 5 years of the Business Improvement District, taking the BID into our second term.
“Winchester Business Improvement District (BID) has been in operation since March 2008, representing over 800 businesses in the City Centre. Since the BID began we have been working with you the BID members to raise the quality of experience for businesses, residents and visitors. We have done this through strategic planning, resulting in a number of projects, such as additional Christmas lights, hanging baskets, chewing gum and graffiti removal, business events, the retail map, the list is endless .
Winchester BID is a direct result of your views and members will continue to genuinely control the trading and business environment, driven by a private sector management approach. It is you the businesses who decided, so by voting yes, you have a real say in the future of Winchester.”
Ken Maccartney, Winchester BID Chairman
The postal ballot coordinated by Winchester City Council received the following votes:

A key decision of the Board has been to reduce the Levy payment back to 1.5%. This has been possible through prudent savings and increased external income generation. This is a 11% reduction in the current BID Levy, and it will remain at that level throughout the next five years of the BID
